Our grocery budget took a weird hit from a fake sale

Last month I noticed we spent $80 more on food than usual, same meals, same store. Turns out the shelf tags were showing the per-item price of a 3-pack, but the register rang up single units. I caught it on the receipt line by line after my wife mentioned the total felt off. Where would I even report that, the store manager or the state weights and measures office? Has anyone else caught a pricing trick like that and gotten refunded?

You ever stand there staring at a shelf tag like it owes you money, because it basically does? That math trick where the big bold number is for the pack but the little fine print is for one sad yogurt is basically the grocery store's version of a magic show, except the trick is on your wallet. I'd hit up the store manager first, but bring the receipt and the tag photo, because they'll act like you're speaking a foreign language until you show them the evidence. If they blow you off, then yeah, weights and measures is the real deal, they love this stuff, it's literally their whole job. Last time I caught a double scan on chicken, the manager just handed me a $10 gift card like it was a tip for not making a scene. Honestly though, the real refund is knowing you're not crazy and the store is just playing 3D chess with your groceries.
