My coworker swore by Tuesday flights, I called him crazy until I saved $140
Dave from accounting kept saying to book flights on Tuesday mornings because airlines drop fares then. I always thought that was an old wives tale, so I ignored him for three trips and paid full price every time. Last month I finally tried it for a Chicago to Denver run, booked at 2 AM on a Tuesday, and the same seat was $140 cheaper than what I saw Sunday night. Now I'm wondering if it was the day or just dumb luck that the fare sale happened that week. Has anyone else tested the Tuesday thing and actually seen consistent savings, or do airlines just mess with us randomly?
Dave in accounting probably also has a system for the best time to microwave popcorn, so I wouldn't bet my whole retirement on it. But hey, $140 is $140, even if it's just the airline's random mood swings.
