Last month I flew out of Phoenix at 6am to save $40 on a ticket to Chicago. I had to wake up at 3:30am, pay $28 for an Uber since the airport shuttle didn't run that early, then sat at the gate for an hour because the plane was delayed. By the time I landed, I was exhausted and wasted the whole first day napping in my hotel room. Then on the way back I took a 2pm flight that cost $55 more, but I slept normal hours, took the $12 city bus to the airport, and got a full day of work done before leaving. The extra money was worth every minute of my sanity. Has anyone else done the math on what early flights really cost them after transit and lost sleep?
