Lost $120 on a 'rebuilt' alternator that was just painted

Bought a so-called rebuilt alternator from a guy on FB Marketplace for $120, looked great, died in 3 days. Turned out he just cleaned and painted the old one, so now I'm back to the junkyard comparing core prices. Anyone else get burned by fancy-looking parts that were never actually fixed?

Dude, $120 is cheap for a real rebuild, that price alone should've been a red flag.
