White paint on brick, $18 gamble that split my street
I painted my front brick wall with plain white masonry paint from the big box store, cost me about $18 and one afternoon. Half my neighbors loved it, said it modernized the whole house, the other half looked at me like I defaced a historic landmark. The paint actually held up fine for two years now, no peeling, no weird stains, so the cheap route did its job. But did I mess up the resale value or did I just cheaply update the curb appeal? Anyone else tried brick painting and got totally mixed reactions from people?

Brick is actually pretty forgiving to paint if you use the right kind, masonry paint's probably the main thing that saved you... regular latex would've been a mess by now. Two years is still kinda early to say it's bulletproof, give it another summer or two before you call it a win.
