My uncle in Akron showed me why my old desktop kept dying, and it was a $2 part
Last week my uncle came over to help me with a desktop I got for free off a curb in Akron. I kept swapping fans and cleaning dust and it still shut off after 20 minutes every time. He looked at the motherboard for about 10 seconds and said the little round battery was dead, so the clock was resetting and the boot settings kept wiping out. I spent $2 at a drugstore for a new one and it has run for 6 hours straight since. What is the dumbest cheap part that had you chasing the wrong fix for weeks?
