A guy on the scaffold told me to stop wetting my brick before laying, and he was right

I always dunked my brick thinking wetter meant better bond, but he told me that on a hot day in July it just makes the mortar slide around and I end up with a mess. I laid 300 brick dry last Tuesday and the joints came out cleaner than anything I have done in the past 20 years. Anyone else switch over based on a random tip from a guy on site?
