Took 14 days to figure out my monstera was just thirsty

My monstera looked fine but the lower leaves kept yellowing, I assumed root rot and repotted it twice before realizing the soil was bone dry. Turns out my moisture meter was busted the whole time, it read wet when the pot was basically dust. Anyone else ever chase a mystery that was just a dumb tool failing you?

lol I killed a pothos chasing the same thing, my meter said wet for like three weeks straight while the leaves kept drooping. Stuck my finger in the dirt one day and it was straight powder. Now I just use the finger test and lift the pot to feel how heavy it is, cheap and never lies.
