Spent two weeks hand-sanding fence boards in Savannah before the painter asked why I wasn't just flipping the belt sander over
I run a small tree service and picked up a fence staining job in Savannah back in April, and the old boards needed sanding first. So I stood there with a palm sander, one board at a time, maybe 140 feet of fence, and it took me two full days per side. On day three the painter who hired me walks over, watches me for a minute, and says "why aren't you running the belt sander upside down?" Turns out you clamp it in a vise, flip it, and just feed the boards across the top. One pass, way faster, better result. I stood there feeling like a complete idiot. Did about 40 feet in an hour after that. I've been working with my hands for 15 years and nobody ever showed me that trick. Anybody got other tools that do a whole different job once you flip them over?
