Warning: glued my first ever full leather binding shut because I trusted a drying rack over my own hand
Was in my basement shop last Tuesday around 11pm finishing a full leather rebind on a 1920s poetry book, and I was so proud of the grain direction on the spine. I had just pasted the covers down and set it on a wire rack to dry like an idiot, not thinking about how humid it gets down there near the laundry. Came back 40 minutes later and the boards had curled up and stuck to the pastedown on the front, fusing the endpaper to the cover. I panicked and tried to slide a bone folder in to separate them, which just tore the marbled paper I spent 2 hours matching. Ended up having to carefully re-wet the joint with a damp sponge and a thin strip of wax paper to get it apart without wrecking the whole spine. Now I dry everything flat under weight, no rack, no shortcuts. What do you all use to keep boards from warping when it's muggy out?
