Spent 2 years cutting board corners wrong in Chicago shop

I used to cut board corners at a 90 degree angle every time. Thought that's how you did it for a clean fit. Then a guy named Frank from the bindery next door walked over and pointed out my split corners were from no relief cut. He showed me a 45 degree bevel on the backside and my joints stopped cracking after a week. Felt like an idiot for not asking sooner. Anyone else learn a basic trick way later than they should have?

Man, that Frank sounds like a lifesaver, better late than never.

Yeah @nathan_bailey, for real - Frank sounds like the kind of guy who shows up when you least expect it but need him most. Makes you think about all the stuff we miss out on by not having more people like that around.
