A bindery client in Seattle asked why I still fold signatures by hand, and her reason stopped me cold
She said her grandmother ran a print shop in the 70s and swore the fold crease held ink better when a person did it, which made me pull out my old bone folder that same night and try a batch of 8-page signatures both ways to see if she was onto something, so I am curious if anyone else here has compared hand folds to machine folds on the same paper stock.
