Showerthought: Our club fought over the ending of Gone Girl for 40 minutes and nobody remembered the actual last page
Last Tuesday our book club met at a diner in Boise and we got stuck on the final chapter of Gone Girl, but here is the funny part. Around minute 40 of arguing, a woman named Dana said Amy did one thing in the last scene, and I said no, she did another. Turns out none of us had the book open, we were all going off the movie. I pulled up the last page on my phone, read it out loud in maybe 30 seconds, and the whole fight just died. We sat there kind of laughing at ourselves and ordered pie. So my question is, how many of your club fights are really just movie memories pretending to be book memories?
Wait, nobody had the book open for 40 minutes?? That is wild. I would have bet money everyone was flipping through pages while they argued. The whole time you were just quoting the movie at each other and calling it the book.
