My book club pick flopped hard and it made me rethink how we choose reads

I brought "The Overstory" to my group last month and three people fell asleep by page 50. Got me thinking, should we stick with shorter books under 300 pages or just admit some stories need room to breathe?

72 pages is way too long for the average person to stay focused on anything these days, I see the same thing happen with people trying to binge a Netflix show and nodding off halfway through an episode.
