Fitting up with wedges beat using a come-along for my tank shell job

Last month in Tulsa I had to align two 1-inch shell plates before welding and I kept fighting it with a come-along. That thing pulled crooked every time and I burned 2 hours just nudging it. Switched to a set of taper wedges and a drift pin, had the seam within an eighth in about 20 minutes. The wedges let you make tiny adjustments without fighting the whole weight of the plate. Anyone else prefer one method over the other for heavy fit-up?
