A guy at a Columbus watch party spoiled the season 2 ending of the show I was on episode 4 of
So I'm at my buddy Dave's place in Columbus for a watch party two Saturdays ago, and we're all crowded around his TV working through season 1 of this show I just started. This guy from Dave's work, Marcus, who I'd never met before, keeps making little comments the whole time, and I'm just trying to enjoy it. Around episode 4 he leans over to me and says, "Oh wait until you see how the brother dies in season 2, it wrecked me." I just sat there holding my plate of chips, and he did not even notice what he did. I told him thanks for that, real helpful, and he goes, "Oh my bad, but it's been out for like two years." Sir, I have a job and a kid, I'm not done with the first season yet. I kept my cool but I wanted to be petty about it. How do you all handle people who just cannot keep spoilers in their mouths when a show has been out for a while?
The "it's been out for two years" excuse is such garbage, because the whole point of a watch party is that people are watching it together for the first time, and half the fun is not knowing what happens next. If someone is still catching up on a show, the polite move is to just ask what episode they're on and keep your mouth shut from there. Marcus basically stole a real moment from you and then acted like you were the weird one for caring, which is the most annoying part.
