That Tuesday where every bike needed the same hidden fix

Last week we had 17 bikes roll through, and 14 of them had shifters that were stiff from old dried grease inside the housing. I spent 6 hours flushing lines with solvent and re-lubing instead of doing actual repairs. Has anyone else had a run where one weird issue just dominates your whole week?

I heard a shop owner on a podcast say that grease breakdown is the number one cause of stiff shifters in older bikes, so your run makes total sense to me. It happens to us in waves too, like when every car comes in with the same cracked vacuum hose for a month straight. Take it as a sign that folks are finally getting their winter bikes out, and the fix is simple even if it eats your whole day.
