Pro tip: never trust a brisket that talks back on a Tuesday

Last Tuesday in Austin I was babysitting a 14 pound packer on my offset and it somehow hissed at me through the grate like a deflating tire, which I blamed on a loose chimney cap until I pulled it off and found a fat drip igniting on the firebox hinge, and has anyone else had a smoker make noise that sounds oddly human when the temp swings?
