Rant: those 3am price drops are fake if you live in Ohio, I checked

I stayed up till 3am for a "flash deal" on a $29 air fryer at a site that rhymes with Schmamazon. Grabbed it, but by checkout the total jumped to $41 with "marketplace seller" fees. Two different items, same story happened on 3 separate nights, so I ran a price tracker on my phone and it showed the deal NEVER existed. Has anyone else caught these bogus midnight markdowns, or is it just my luck here in Cincinnati?

Wait, do these deals even show up if you switch your zip code to one on the west coast before you search? I noticed last year that some "region locked" prices only got marked down if the site thinks you're in a state like California or Oregon. So you might not be crazy, just geographically cursed. Try spoofing your location to Portland and see if that air fryer magically drops to $29 again. If it does, that's some shady geo-fencing nonsense, not just a fake deal.
