That dead miniDV camcorder came back to life after 9 years in a drawer

Found my old Sony Handycam last weekend while clearing out the closet in my mom's basement. It was dead, battery swollen, tape stuck halfway out. Plugged it into the wall for 2 days straight, pried the tape door open, and the thing just started spinning again. My 2004 recording of my brother's failed skateboard ramp actually played clear as day. Anyone else keeping obsolete recording gear alive just for the weird nostalgia hits?
