I finally stopped hating the $5 keyboard from the flea market in Tulsa
I was ready to toss it because the space bar stuck every few presses, so I popped off the caps and found 6 years of soda syrup under there. A guy at the booth showed me how to rinse the membrane in warm water and let it dry for 2 days, and now it types smoother than my $80 one. Has anyone else brought a cheap board back from the dead, or am I just lucky it did not short out?

Had the same thing happen with a Dell from a Goodwill, keys were crunchy as hell and I figured it was toast. Turned out to be coffee and crumbs caked in there, took the whole thing apart and scrubbed the membrane with dish soap and a soft toothbrush. Let it sit on the counter for like 3 days because I was paranoid about water hiding in the corners. Been using it for 2 years now, zero problems. Cheap boards are weirdly tough, they were built for offices where people spill stuff all the time.
