Spent $180 on a fading clipper blade starter kit, worth the argument?

Bought a 10 pack of cheap gold blades off an online marketplace last month. First two clients left with patchy tapers, blade skipped on thick hair around the crown. Swapped back to my old factory blade and the fade came out clean. Some guys swear cheap blades are fine if you zero gap them right, but I lost $180 on a box that sits in my drawer. Is it worth spending double on name brands or did I just get a bad batch from a no name seller?

man I feel your pain, I bought a 6 pack of those same cheap gold blades last year and every single one tugged and chattered on thick hair. I thought I was going crazy cause everyone online swears they just need a good zero gap, but no amount of adjusting fixed the skipping. The steel is just soft or something, they dull out after one or two cuts and then it's patch city. My old factory blade still works perfect after a year of daily use, so I'm convinced you just get what you pay for with this stuff. I wouldn't even waste time trying to fix them, just stick with the name brand and save yourself the headache.
