I used to blow off hot towel warmers as a gimmick until a regular at my shop in Tulsa called me out
A guy who has been coming to me for 3 years sat down last week and said my hot towel felt like a wet sock compared to the place his son goes to in Dallas. That stung because he was right, I was just microwaving a rag and calling it good. So I bought a proper warmer with a thermostat and started folding the towels with a splash of eucalyptus oil like my old mentor showed me back in 2019. He came back Friday, sat in the chair, and said nothing about it, which from him is basically a five star review. Any of you running a warmer, what temp do you keep it at so the towels stay hot but don't scald?
Feel that sting, man. Getting called out by a loyal regular hurts worse than losing a new walk-in because he actually cares enough to say it. I keep mine right around 160 to 165 and the towels come out hot enough to feel good on the neck without anyone flinching. The eucalyptus touch is smart too, that smell alone makes people think they walked into a nicer place.
