Man, come on, nobody actually needs to see the guard before every single cut. Most guys have been going to the same barber for years and never once asked to inspect a hunk of plastic, and their hair turns out fine. That lady's rule is just her own quirk, not some gold standard every shop should follow. Half the time the client can't even tell a 2 from a 3 anyway, so showing them the guard is basically theater to make them feel in control. Plus it slows you down when you got a line out the door and now you're doing show and tell for every dude in the chair. Trust is built by the cut coming out right, not by waving a piece of plastic in someone's face before you start.
