Swapped my 2 gallon pots for 5 gallon ones on the balcony, and my peppers finally stopped stalling
For two seasons my jalapenos would grow about 6 inches and then just sit there all summer in the small pots, and I assumed it was a light problem on my north facing balcony in Portland. This year I moved the same plants into 5 gallon fabric pots with the same soil mix and same 4 hours of sun, and I've already picked 11 peppers since June. Has anyone else noticed the pot size matters way more than sun for the smaller stuff?
Doubt pot size beats sun that much, plenty of people pull peppers off tiny pots in full sun. Maybe your old soil was just spent and the bigger pots gave the roots room to finally drink.
