Showerthought: double stacking pots saved my balcony harvest

My tiny 3x5 balcony in Chicago barely gets enough sun. I had maybe 6 pots out there. Then I tried putting small pots on top of upside down bigger ones. Like a tier system. Suddenly I fit 15 plants in the same space. Problems: wind knocked a few over at first. Fixed it with zip ties through the drainage holes. My cherry tomatoes went from 20 to 60 fruits per week after that. Anyone else do vertical stacking like this or am I just lucky?
