Noticed my balcony tomatoes went from leggy to bushy in 2 weeks

I switched from a north-facing spot to a south-facing one on my little 4x6 balcony in Seattle and the difference was wild. Before that, my tomato seedlings were all stretched out and pale, now they're dark green and branching like crazy. Has anyone else seen that kind of change just from moving things a few feet?

Well actually it sounds like simple sun stress, not a real improvement.
