The 1999 article that called streaming a passing fad still bugs me
My uncle dug out this old PC Magazine from his basement last week, the one where some tech writer said streaming would never replace cable because of bandwidth limits. He laughed about it, but it hit me different. In 1999 we had 56k modems in Toledo, and that guy literally could not picture fiber lines running to every house. We went from 10 hours to download one song to 4K movies in 30 seconds. How many current predictions are we nodding along with right now that will look exactly this dumb in 2040? Anyone else got a favorite old take that aged like milk?
