I keep seeing people share that quote about computers being a fad, but most of them get the source wrong or make up the date. Last Tuesday I actually pulled the microfilm at the downtown library here and found it, it's from a 1985 issue and the person quoted was a guy named Steve, not some scientist like people claim. The reason this bugs me is people use the fake version to make old predictions look dumber than they already are, and there's plenty of real stuff to laugh at. I wrote down the issue number and page so I could show my brother, who swore it was from 1982. Save yourself the trouble and just check the archive before you post a screenshot, half of them are edited. Has anyone else gone down a rabbit hole trying to find the real source of one of these?
