Some guy in 2006 said nobody would ever watch video on a phone, and I laughed at him last night on my couch
So I was digging through some old forum threads from around 2006 looking for something else entirely, and I found this post where a guy with like 4,000 posts was telling everyone that watching video on a phone was a joke because the screens were too small and the data cost too much. He said it in this super confident way, like "mark my words, this will never catch on." Fast forward to last night, I'm sitting on my couch in my apartment eating cold pizza and streaming a full 45 minute episode of a show on my phone while my actual TV sits there turned off. I did the math and I probably watch 15 to 20 hours of stuff on that little screen each month now. The crazy part is that guy wasn't even dumb about tech, he clearly knew his stuff for the time. It just shows how fast the ground moves under your feet with this stuff. What old prediction do you all keep coming back to, the kind that looked totally reasonable when somebody said it?
