1995 article said we'd all have robot butlers by 2020, but my smart speaker can't even order the right pizza size
My buddy Jerry brought up that old Wired piece at lunch Tuesday, and we argued for an hour about whether the misses in prediction matter more than the hits, so which 20-year-old tech take deserves the biggest laugh, the ones that were close or the ones that were hilariously off?

like the real miss is that they got the timeline backwards. we dont have robot butlers but we do have robot vacuums that map your whole house and sell the data to whoever. the tech arrived, just aimed at advertisers instead of our dishes. i mean, the pizza size thing is funny but at least it's trying, the 1995 people thought we'd be chilling while machines did everything, turns out the machines just make us work harder to pay for them. idk, maybe the biggest joke is that we actually believed efficiency would give us free time instead of just more chores.
