Texting etiquette shifted fast after group chats went mainstream

Remember when leaving a group chat required a formal goodbye and people actually read every message? Now I see my coworkers drop a GIF and vanish, and nobody blinks. Has anyone else noticed that replying late is basically a crime in 2024, but ignoring a thread for 3 days is totally normal?
