PSA: the self checkout at my Kroger in Toledo called me a "valued customer" 4 times and I think it's mocking me

I was buying like $12 of stuff last Tuesday and that machine thanked me more than my own family does in a year. It even did this little pause after the 4th thank you, like it wanted me to say something back, and I just stood there holding my bananas. Is this happening at every store now or is my Toledo Kroger just extra polite?
