Beta patch bricked my save file, is early access even worth it?

Lost 80 hours in a survival game last Thursday after a patch dropped and corrupted my world. The devs said they fixed it in the next hotfix, but I'm just staring at the menu like, do I even start over? I get that early access is about testing, but at what point does a broken save just feel like a scam? Has anyone else lost a big run this way and actually bounced back, or did you just quit the game for good?

Have you tried copying your save folder somewhere safe before each patch, since that's the only way I've made it through early access games?
