I thought those little velcro straps were a gimmick until I saw the back of my buddy's TV stand
My buddy Dave asked me to help him move his entertainment center last Saturday, and when we pulled it away from the wall I just stared. He had maybe 14 cables back there, HDMI, power, ethernet, the works, and every single one was wrapped in these cheap velcro ties and labeled with tape. I used to think those straps were a waste of money and that zip ties were fine, honestly I'd been using the same twist ties from bread bags for my own setup for a long time. But here's the thing, when we plugged everything back in at his new place, it took us 10 minutes to hook it all up because nothing was tangled and we knew exactly what went where. My setup at home? Last time I moved my router I spent 40 minutes on the floor untangling a rats nest behind my desk. Dave said he started doing this after a move in 2019 where he broke a $60 HDMI cable just from yanking it wrong. So now I'm sitting here looking at my own disaster zone wondering where to even start. Do you guys label everything or just the ones you know you'll unplug a lot?
