TIL a golf ball in the nest box got my broody hen to quit sitting on air
My Buff Orpington named Nugget sat on an empty nest for 11 days straight last month, puffed up and growling at everyone. I put a golf ball under her on a tip from a guy at the feed store in Modesto, and she hatched zero eggs but gave up the nest in 2 days flat. Guess the fake egg made her feel like the job was done. Now I'm curious if a wooden egg or a warm rock works better, what do you all use?
