PSA: my barred rock laid her first egg at 19 weeks and I almost missed it
I went out to the coop last Tuesday around 7am to top off the feeder and there it was, a little brown egg sitting right in the corner nest box. I check a chart from the University of Kentucky extension a while back and it claimed most pullets start laying between 18 and 22 weeks, so I guess mine hit the early side of that. Problem is I had no idea what it was at first, I thought one of the neighbors' kids dropped a rock in there somehow. How long did yours take to start laying, and did the first few eggs come out weird and small like mine did?
