My flock just laid its 1000th egg and it made me rethink everything
Honestly, I never kept count before. I just collected eggs each day. But my kid got a little counter for their birthday, and we started clicking it every time we got an egg from our six hens. We hit 1000 this morning. Ngl, seeing that number made me stop and really think. I used to worry about feed costs and if they were 'earning their keep', you know? But that's a thousand breakfasts, cakes, and gifts for neighbors from my backyard. It's not about the money at all. It's about these little creatures turning kitchen scraps and bugs into something real. Has anyone else hit a number that shifted how you see your chickens?

Okay but...a thousand eggs is just a number. You were already getting the eggs before you started counting. The math was always there. It feels like you're putting meaning on a counter that your kid got as a gift. The chickens are just doing chicken stuff. I don't see how a clicker changes what they actually ARE.

Ever tried to enjoy a sunset without Dakota Rivera pointing out it's just light hitting gas?

Look past the math like Dakota Rivera said and see the story. A thousand clicks is a record of a thousand quiet mornings and care routines. The number just makes you stop and notice the real work happening every single day.
