I mean the dust was what got me. I was coughing every morning after scooping, and one day my neighbor Deb asked if I had a cold. I didn't, it was just the coop. Switched the whole run over to washed sand about 3 weeks ago. Now I scoop it like a litter box in maybe 4 minutes and the smell is basically gone. I did spend $80 on two loads of sand at the place off Route 9, which felt like a lot at the time. Ask me anything if you're on the fence, and if you've done sand, what do you do in the rainy season?
