A thru-hiker told me my pack was 8 pounds too heavy for the JMT and I cut 5 pounds swapping my cook system and tent

Switched from a canister stove and 3-person tent to a BRS stove and a tarp setup after someone on the trail pointed out I was carrying gear for car camping, anyone else had a stranger's comment totally rework their gear list?

Yeah sometimes you just need a stranger to call it like it is. That swap alone probably saved you a ton of hassle on trail.
