A ramp guy in Fort Worth said something about our wiring checks that stuck with me
Last Thursday I was doing a preflight walkaround on a King Air at a ramp in Fort Worth and one of the line guys asked why we pull every cannon plug on a 100 hour instead of just the ones in the squawk log. I told him we had a plane 2 years back where a pin on the #2 engine harness looked clean from the outside but the crimp had gone green inside, and it cost us a 3 day AOG in Midland waiting on a new harness. He said his old shop only did a wiggle check and called it good, and I have been chewing on that ever since. Now I am wondering how many of you out there actually pull and inspect every connector on a phase check versus just logging continuity. Do you have a set rule for it, or is it one of those things that depends on who is signing off?
