Shoutout to the dispatcher in Reno who caught the broker's fake pickup window
Booked a run from Sacramento to Phoenix last Tuesday and the broker swore the car had to be picked up by 4pm or the deal was dead. My dispatcher looked at the paperwork and noticed the pickup window was listed three different ways, so he called the actual dealer and they had no idea who this broker was. Turns out the guy was double brokering and the car was already promised to another carrier. We sat for two days waiting on a fix while my truck burned diesel at $4.10 a gallon. Ended up getting the real load direct from the dealer and made $300 more than the broker's quote. If you are not calling the shipper yourself before you roll, you are gambling. How do you all screen new brokers before you commit a truck?
