Got hit with a $220 'broker fee' after my car was already on the truck, is that normal or did I get played?
Booked a move from Denver to Phoenix last month and the quote I signed said $850 total, no extras. Day of pickup the driver hands me a paper saying there's a $220 broker fee on top, and since my car was already half loaded I just paid it. I've heard some people say this is just how the industry works and you have to ask upfront if the quote is all-in or if there's a separate broker cut. Others swear the real move is to skip brokers and go straight to a carrier so nobody double dips on you. I get why brokers exist since they find the truck for you, but paying after the car is on the ramp feels like I had zero room to say no. Is this a thing I should've caught in the paperwork, or do you all just eat the fee too?
