DAE remember when a broker quote actually meant something? Lost $450 to a deposit
Back when I first started shipping cars around 2008, you'd call a broker, get a quote, and that number was pretty close to what you paid. Last month I paid a $450 deposit to a broker out of Tampa to move my son's Civic to Denver, and the carrier never showed up. I called for four days and got nothing but voicemail, and the deposit was gone since it went through a cash app, not a card I could dispute. In my experience the old guys who ran small shops would at least pick up the phone and tell you straight if a route was slow. Your mileage may vary, but I'd ask for a card payment and a carrier name in writing now. Has anyone had luck getting a deposit back, or do you just eat it and move on?
