Pro tip: my Tacoma sat 9 extra days in Nevada because I booked shipping during a holiday week
Booked a carrier to move my Tacoma from Vegas to Portland right before Labor Day and it sat in a yard for 9 days before anyone picked it up. Dispatch kept saying drivers were running holiday routes and my window kept sliding. I paid $780 when the normal quote was around $550, mostly because I got impatient and took the first broker who answered. Now I check the pickup date against big travel weekends before I sign anything. Has anyone had luck getting a broker to lock in a firm pickup day instead of that 3 to 5 day window?
