Shoutout to the guy at the O'Reilly in Reno who talked me out of a dealer-only repair
Everyone on here keeps telling people to just take their car to the dealer for anything electrical because of the warranty. But I listened to a parts guy named Dave at the O'Reilly on South Virginia Street in Reno who said to try a $38 remanufactured alternator first before letting the dealer charge me $640. The car ran fine for 19 months after that, and when the alternator finally gave out the warranty on the part covered the swap with no hassle. Why are we still scaring people into dealer-only repairs when a $38 part and a Saturday afternoon can do the same job?
