I washed my engine bay with a garden hose for years before a mechanic in Tulsa showed me what it did to the connectors
So this happened about 3 weeks ago at a shop off Route 66 in Tulsa and I still feel dumb about it. My truck kept throwing a P0300 code and I had already swapped plugs, wires, and a coil pack, probably $140 in parts down the drain. The mechanic popped the hood, pointed at some green crust on a harness plug, and asked how often I hose the motor down after off roading. Turns out I had been blasting water into the sensor connectors every other weekend for like 4 years and slowly frying them. He said the warranty on my aftermarket intake did not cover any of that because water damage is not a defect. Cost me $260 for new pigtails and a cleaning, way less than what I already blew guessing. Has anyone else cooked their own sensors just from washing the bay, and how do you clean yours now?
