Dealer warranty denied my AC fix, independent shop proved them wrong
Took my 2018 Ford in for AC blowing warm air. Dealer said compressor failed, wanted $1,400 and said powertrain warranty wouldn't cover it. My buddy at an independent spot in Austin said to check the blend door actuator first. $90 part and 2 hours later, cold air. Dealer never even mentioned it. Has anyone else had dealers push the expensive fix first?

wait, they just straight up ignored the blend door actuator? that's like, the first thing any decent mechanic checks when AC acts up. i had a similar thing happen with my camry, dealer quoted me a whole new condenser, but my cousin literally wiggled the actuator and boom, fixed. it's wild how they go for the most expensive option without even looking at the cheap stuff first. honestly feels like they bank on people not knowing any better. good on your buddy for catching that, saved you over a grand. i'd be leaving a review about that dealer for sure, people need to know.
