Question about a brake caliper that finally came loose

I had a customer's car with a brake caliper that was completely stuck. Soaked it in penetrating fluid overnight and it freed up nicely this morning. What do you guys do when standard methods don't work on seized parts?

When you said soaking it overnight worked, it made me think about how a lot of stuff just needs time to loosen up on its own. I mean, like when you're stuck on a problem and you sleep on it, sometimes the answer comes easy in the morning. Maybe it's just me, but forcing things never seems to work as well as letting them sit for a bit.

Wait, you just made me realize I never connected actual soaking with sleeping on a problem, but you're totally right. That's wild, and now what @pipera50 said about the brain solving puzzles at night makes even more sense. Forcing a solution always feels like trying to rush a dried-up glue bottle, it just makes a bigger mess. Guess some stuff really does just need to sit, whether it's a dirty pan or a tricky thought.

There was an article I saw last week about how sleeping helps solve puzzles. It said our brains sort through info at night, making connections we miss during the day. Your post reminded me of that exactly. Letting things sit gives our minds space to work without pressure. It's like the brain needs downtime to figure stuff out.
