My favorite garage visitor was a four-legged mechanic
The other day, a customer drove in with his huge German Shepherd riding shotgun. The dog hopped out and immediately started inspecting every tool on my bench. I was halfway under a sedan when I felt a slobbery lick right on my cheek. The owner kept apologizing, but I was cracking up too hard to care. Then the dog decided the air compressor was his arch enemy and barked at it nonstop. We had to pause the oil change to lure him away with a snack. It turned a routine job into a hilarious mess, but it made my day. Now I always stash a few extra treats in my top drawer for furry assistants.

Sounds like that compressor was definitely making noise. Dogs always lose it over hissing sounds for some reason. Still, it's more fun than a normal quiet day in the shop.

Was the air compressor running when he decided it was the enemy?

My shop's 20-gallon unit was absolutely running. That constant hiss sends my dog Buster into a full defense mode every single time. The_patricia's question really hits the key point, because it's the noise itself that triggers the whole standoff. He just sees it as a giant snake threatening his territory. Does your dog have a sworn enemy like that?
